Jules Marling (download resume) serves as a managing director with Real Estate Research Corporation (RERC). Along with Ken Riggs, he directs the firm's consulting and development activities. Mr. Marling has supervised or personally completed more than 7,000 real estate consulting assignments, encompassing all major property types in most areas of the U.S. and in several other countries.
Mr. Marling also directs the firm's investment activities, recently involving the repositioning of multifamily apartments and condominium conversions. In 2008, he was instrumental in developing RERC Real Estate Solutions LLC, an affiliate of RERC, formed to assist in helping to evaluate, make decisions about, and develop and implement plans for the disposal, management, or enhancement of distressed assets.
He initially formed The Marling Group with his brother John Marling in 1973, and he later acquired Sudler and Company, which was renamed Sudler Marling, Inc. in 1985. He served as chairman of the company, which managed about 10,000 multifamily units and had about $150 million per year in residential sales. In 1992 he left that organization to form Property Counselors, which merged with RERC in 1999. E-mail Mr. Marling at jmarling@rerc.com.
